Thank you for visiting our About us page!
My name is Damien Renaux and I’m the founder and General Manager of Cultura Lingua International.
I was born in France, a country I truly love and appreciate.
Though at an early age I had a strong desire to explore and meet people of other cultures. I wanted to learn and understand their perspective on life through their eyes, language, customs and traditions. This led me to travel the world.
In 2006, I followed my lifelong dream to move to Australia, where I now live in the magical subtropical area of Byron Bay with my wife and our five daughters.
My enthusiasm and curiosity for connecting with foreign cultures naturally led me into the language and cultural field which I have been involved in for over 25 years.
It started with organising student cultural exchange programs for a French organisation in London. Later, I founded a French Language school in Bordeaux and Biarritz that I ran for 18 years. The schools offered intensive French courses to over 2000 students per year.
More peace and harmony in the world
In a world that greatly needs peace and wisdom, I believe one way of improving this is through intercultural awareness and appreciation.
The rich cultural diversity in which we live makes us so fascinating as human beings. And when we acknowledge and respect this diversity we create more harmony and peace in the world.
What I love about learning a language is when we start to break through and become intimate with it, we open doors to its amazing heritage and history.
We get a deeper understanding of the sociopolitical and environmental situations that influence the country’s culture and people.
The idea behind our programs is to go beyond the stereotypical tourist “adventure” experience.
We hope our customers can truly feel the country’s authentic culture through its language and people, its nuances and complexities.
Learning a language is a rich experience – a journey for some – that brings new awareness, potential change within and transformation.
To the highest of my ability, I want to continually share my passion of languages and cultures.
And within that, I modestly hope to contribute in expanding people’s horizons and making the world a happier and better place.
