French courses at the teacher’s house in Hyeres

Our French courses in Hyeres provide an excellent environment to learn French on the French Riviera.

Hyeres is a small city of 56 000 inhabitants in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region in southeast France. It is situated at 85 km from Marseille, 50 km from St Tropez and 150 km from Nice.

The medieval old town lies 4 km from the Mediterranean sea and is set on a hill. At just a few kilometers from Hyeres, visitors can enjoy some amazing scenery and natural beauty including the “Golden Islands” of Porquerolles, Port Cros, Le Levant, and the unique Giens peninsula.

One of Hyeres’ precious privilege is its high number of sunny days per year. According to the locals, the sun shines 300 days a year in Hyeres! In the late 18th century, many aristocratic travelers from the UK were staying in Hyeres in search of a mild winter. Queen Victoria sojourned there three weeks during the winter of 1892 which influenced considerably the presence of a British community including artists and writers such as Rudyard Kipling, and DH Lawrence.
