Spanish courses in Heredia – Costa Rica

Our Spanish courses in Costa Rica take place in the charming colonial city of Heredia, which is situated 10 km north of San José.

Nicknamed the “City of Flowers”, due to the beautiful flora and fauna surrounding the city, Heredia is the fourth largest city in Costa Rica with a population of about 125 000 people. It is situated in the Heredia Province, of which it is the capital.

Being so close to the city capital, Heredia is often considered part of San José’s greater Metropolitan area but offers a more relaxed atmosphere.

Visitors who enroll in our Spanish programs in Costa Rica have the opportunity to visit both cities’ cultural and historical treasures. A trip from Heredia to San José takes approximately 25 minutes by train.

Heredia’s universities add a young and dynamic atmosphere to the city

Heredia hosts two major universities, La Universidad Nacional (public) and La Universidad Latina de Costa Rica (private). Both are ranked among the best universities of Costa Rica. They attract over 45 000 students and naturally bring a young atmosphere to the city.

The city of Heredia offers a vast choice of cultural activities. You can choose from cultural tours of the colonial heritage to museums such as La Casa de la Cutura, old churches, buy some very affordable fruits and veggies at local markets such as El Mercado Municipal.

If you wish to adventure outside of Heredia, you can visit some really picturesque towns such as Santo Domingo, San Isidro, San Rafael, and San José de la Montana. You may also want to spend a bit of time discovering the beautiful Zurqui Mountains that are surrounding Heredia.

Studying Spanish in Heredia is probably the best option for those who want to experience the real Costa Rican lifestyle. Its central geographic position makes it easy and practical to explore this amazing country.

You’re always a short distance from a lush rain forest, the rich and colourful wildlife, fauna and flora, volcanoes, and Costa Rica’s stunning coastline. And if you’re into sports, there are numerous exciting sport activities you can find whether inland or on the coast.

Please note: we can also provide Spanish group courses in Heredia and other parts of Costa Rica. Please enquire.
