The language levels and teaching methods used in each country may differ slightly from one teacher to another but as a guide please find below some relevant information which will help you assess your current language level and learn more about our teacher’s teaching approach.

The language competency is the knowledge that enables an individual to speak and understand a language. In most countries, our teachers’ assessment of a language competency is defined by the CEFRL (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). The CEFRL is a guideline used to describe achievements of learners of foreign languages initially across all countries of Europe and today in many other countries in the world.

Language Levels

Beginner

You have no knowledge of the language whatsoever

False Beginner

A1 – Basic User

A2 – Basic User

B1 – Independent User

B1 level means you understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered at work, school, leisure etc
You can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken
You can produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest
You can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans

B2 – Independent User

At this level, you can understand the main ideas of a complex text on both concrete and abstract topics. It includes technical discussions in your field of specialisation
You can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party
You can produce detailed texts on a wide range of subjects
You are confident and able to explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options
