French courses in Aix-en-Provence
Our French courses in Aix-en-Provence provide a magnificent environment for adult students to study French in what is called “la belle France”.
Aix (pronounced X) has a rich history with a prosperous period starting during the Roman Empire era. The city was founded in 123 BC.
Today it’s still an important educational centre with many higher education institutes, schools and universities.
This authentic Provencal city has an elegance that reflects its stunning heritage. Aix has splendour and style with a vibrant street life and a pleasant sunny climate. It’s also the place of birth of Paul Cézanne (1839 – 1906), a major French Post-Impressionist painter.
On the footsteps of Paul Cézanne
Visitors can open the door of Cézanne’s studio, enter his private world, discover the house where he began painting, and follow a trail of sites that he frequented. Some of his work can be seen in the space dedicated to him in the Musée Granet. “Discover Cézanne in Provence” shows the close relationship between the artist’s art and his native region.
Don’t miss the opportunity to have a drink at Les Deux Garçons Café on Cours Mirabeau, a typical French bistrot named after Cézanne and his childhood friend Emile Zola. It’s where they used to spend time after school. It’s also a place that was visited by many other famous artists such as Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau, Alain Delon, Francis Poulenc…
Amazing food and rich history
Students who study French in Aix-en-Provence get the opportunity to discover and taste numerous succulent provencal products.
Organic and non-organic, the choice is enormous! It goes from the traditional Macaron, local honey, lavender essence, olives and olive oil, the fougasse bread, the provençal cheeses, the calicon d’Aix, the rosé wines, to the Provençal herbs, artisanal soaps and perfumes, and of course the delicious cuisine of Provence.
